Vladimir Nabokov’s novel ’Laughter in the Dark Camera’ (original Russian title: ‘Camera Obscura’) was first published in the journal ’Sovremennye zapiski’ (Contemporary Papers) in 1932–1933 under the Latin title.

From 14 February 2022

In 1938, Nabokov translated the novel into English, making various additions, including changing the names of the characters. The English edition is entitled ’Laughter in the Dark’.

The exhibition will feature various editions of the novel, postcards of the early 20th century as well as the 1920s costumes from the collection of Oksana Ostrovskaia.
