  • Home for Rent, 16,000 km from St. Petersburg, black-and-white art, Argentina;
  • Home for Rent, 12,500 km from St Petersburg, black-and-white art, Peru;
  • Home for Rent, 11,000 km from St Petersburg, black-and-white art, Ecuador; etc.

My global guidebook to homes follows a framework: from point A to point B. Point A is always St Petersburg, the city where each of my journeys has begun, while point B is a residence on the way to my destination in different parts of the world. Location and distance are always of particular interest when it comes to finding a home, or renting out a house. ‘Home for rent — a hundred metres from the Petrogradskaya metro station; home for rent — a seven-minute walk from Sennaya Square.’

The search radius to find a home can be increased thanks to this guidebook, because the distance does not change the essence of house hunting. A rental property in Ecuador — 11,000 km from St Petersburg — is waiting for tenants and is called ‘Home for rent’ just as anywhere else.

‘HOME’ is the keyword for this project.

Our whole life revolves around the home.

Home search, perception of your home, building your own home, accepting your home, abandoning your home, saying goodbye to your home...
It is not yet certain what kind of relationship is longer and stronger — human-to-human, or that special relationship with our place on earth, that is, the place where we are born, cared for, loved, respected and mourned when we die.

We cannot imagine our life without a home as we cannot imagine our life without a family and people we love. Therefore, our quest for home occupies our thoughts throughout our lives.
(Yet, in essence, we are just tenants on Earth).

The exhibition will feature black-and-white art by the artist and designer Anna Cherkasheva.
